Dr. Chris Gainor is a historian specializing in the history of space flight and aeronautics. He has five published books and is currently writing a history of the Hubble Space Telescope for NASA. He is President of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and editor of Quest: History of Spaceflight Quarterly. His topic will be The Hubble Space Telescope. Launched 29 years ago in 1990 and having overcome early problems caused by a defective main mirror, the Hubble has made discoveries that have revolutionized our view of the universe we live in and has changed how astronomy is done.
Dr. Richard Stanwick has a long career in community health, including epidemiology, and has held the position of Chief Medical Health Officer for Island Health for over the past 17 years. He will be talking to us about Cannabis, delving into a number of critical questions, both public and medical, that its legalization is raising.

Jeremy Webber is Professor of Law at the University of Victoria. He has served as Dean of Law at the University of Sydney, Australia, Professor of Law at McGill University, and most recently as Dean of Law at the University of Victoria (2013 to 2018). He has written widely in constitutional law, Indigenous rights, federalism, cultural diversity, and constitutionaltheory, in Canada and in relation to other countries (especially Australia). He is the author of Re-imagining Canada: Language, Culture, Community and the Canadian Constitution (1994) and The Constitution of Canada: A Contextual Analysis (2015). Professor Webber held the Canada Research Chair in Law and Society at the University of Victoria from 2002 to 2014. He was appointed a Fellow of the Trudeau Foundation in 2009 and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2016. Professor Webber’s topic will be: ”The University of Victoria’s Revolutionary New Program in Indigenous Law”
